Salesforce + Fin: AI Agents Can Talk – But Can They See?

Salesforce is set to buy Fin, which used to be called Intercom, for about $3.6 billion. Fin creates AI customer service agents that manage conversations on chat, email, messaging apps, phone, and Slack. These agents answer questions, solve common problems, and help service teams work more efficiently.

Both the Agentforce roadmap and this deal show that Salesforce wants its agents to do more than just reply to customers. They want agents that can actually take action using business data.

People often forget that customer service has never been just about text.

Why visual evidence matters

If a customer messages you saying, “My product arrived damaged,” that gives you some information. But a photo of the damaged product shows you exactly what the problem is.

It’s the same out in the field. A technician can write a report about what they did, but a photo of the finished job serves as proof. Photos help with proof of delivery, warranty claims, asset inspections, and before-and-after records. Images provide context that text alone can’t, and they make it much easier to check records later.

For AI agents to really help with service work, they need the same context that people do.

Why photos need to live in Salesforce

Service teams often face a frustrating problem: photos go missing. They might be stuck in an email thread, lost in a WhatsApp message, or saved on a technician’s personal phone. If a photo isn’t linked to the right Salesforce record, someone has to waste time searching for it—often when it’s needed most.

Visual evidence is only useful if it’s stored in a way that people can actually find it.

SharinPix solves this problem. Field workers can take photos that are automatically saved to the correct Salesforce record, even if they’re offline. There’s no need to email photos to themselves or remember which folder they used. The photo is ready as soon as the job is finished.

Beyond storing photos, SharinPix also preserves the business context around every image, including metadata such as capture time, location, tags, and its relationship to Salesforce records. This gives AI agents richer context to search, retrieve, and reason over visual evidence—not just the image itself.

So when an agent or anyone else checks that record, all the information is already there. Agentforce takes care of the automation, Fin manages the customer conversation, and the Salesforce record includes the photos needed to tell the whole story.

What comes next?

The Fin deal shows that AI agents are becoming a bigger part of customer support. That much is clear. What’s less certain is how much context these agents will need to be truly helpful—not just good at conversation, but also aware of what really happened.

For many service teams, context means photos. Teams that already store visual evidence in Salesforce are better prepared for what’s ahead.

AI agents can communicate. With the right context, they can also understand.
