Why Video, and Why Now?
A photo tells you what something looks like. It doesn’t tell you what something does. Field operations teams know this better than anyone. A photo of a faucet shows you a faucet. A video shows you the drip, the leak, the actual problem in motion. A photo of a piece of machinery shows you its condition. A video shows you whether it starts, runs, and functions the way it should.
That gap between “what it looks like” and “what it does” is where a lot of inspection detail gets lost. Field techs have long had to describe motion, sound, and function in written notes, because their tools only let them capture stills. With SharinPix Video, that limitation goes away. Inspectors, adjusters, and service teams can now capture a few seconds of real activity and attach it directly to the record they’re working in, right alongside their photos.

Words only go so far here, so let’s show you instead. Below is a short video captured with SharinPix, showing the inspection of a heart rate monitor. Notice how the video confirms the device is actually powered on and functioning, something a still photo would leave you guessing about.
How SharinPix Video Capture Works
Recording is built directly into the SharinPix mobile app, so there’s nothing new to learn. Open the app, switch to Video mode from the scrollable mode list at the bottom of the screen, and tap Record. Tap again to stop. If you need a still photo mid-recording, the Snap button sits right next to the record button so you can grab one without interrupting your clip. Once you’re done, tap the thumbnail to review the video, with a full-screen option for a closer look.
Videos captured this way save automatically in MP4 format, and Enterprise plan users can record clips up to 30 seconds long. For teams that need longer recordings, we can enable extended playback using your own AWS S3 storage. Just reach out to our support team to get that set up.
On the Salesforce side, videos show up right in the gallery view alongside your photos. Click a video to open it in the image viewer, and once it’s finished uploading, a play button appears so anyone with access to the record can preview it without leaving Salesforce.
We also support common web video formats beyond MP4, including WEBM and MOV, so uploading pre-recorded clips from other sources works too. If your organization uses a format we don’t cover yet, let us know. We’re always looking to expand what SharinPix can handle.
What You Need to Know Before You Turn It On
SharinPix Video is available on the Enterprise plan and needs to be explicitly enabled for your org. If that’s you, contact SharinPix Support and we’ll get it turned on. If you’re on another plan and want to see how it works before upgrading, you can try the feature in a sandbox using the SharinPix Mobile App.
One practical note on file size: Enterprise orgs can play back videos up to 25 MB directly in Salesforce. If your team regularly captures longer or higher-resolution footage, talk to us about options for handling larger files.
